Jade Garden was opened by owner Kim Lau from Hong Kong in 1969 making it the oldest Chinese restaurant in the city remaining in the same ownership.

It is one of the most popular restaurants in St Albans, which is situated in one of the cities listed buildings, just off the main market place in Spencer Street.
